X-URL: http://www.OMNIport.net/ Subject: Equipment replaced, outtage cured! Hello, Whew! After a grueling night of debugging routers, TSU's, Frame-relay circuits, etc. ... the connection is back up .... and is even BETTER! OMNIport Technical Support replaced some network routing equipment as did the regional provider. OMNIport now has an even faster connection as a result. Preliminary observation of the connection shows a noticeable improvement in throughput speed and consistancy with the new equipment. Even though it is too early to tell for sure, it appears that the woes we have experienced since the regional provider facility migration are finally over ... yes! In the process, name services have been adjusted. PLEASE make sure that your outgoing e-mail server (SMTP server) is smtp.omniport.net ... for it will vastly improve your ability to send e-mail. In the next few days, the e-mail servers are scheduled to be replaced (upgraded) and by making sure your mail manager points to smtp.omniport.net for the outgoing mail server you will be able to take advantage of the new servers. [Note: Customers with their own domain names with e-mail hosted by OMNIport will NOT have to make any adjustments to their settings if they are NOT using OMNIport servers to send e-mail.... i.e. the mail servers set up in the mail manager settings is NOT an OMNIport server.] In the last message, we mentioned that "OMNIport website access" is not effected by the recent connection break ... this is a clarification. We meant to indicate that you can get to OMNIport pages ... and all those sites hosted by OMNIport ... but any other sites were not reachable. Look in the news page at http://www.OMNIport.net/news/ for late breaking news and information important to OMNIport customers such as yourself. We are planning to upgrade out dial-up service in the near future and we will be posting information on the news pages. Regards, OMNIport Technical Support
