X-URL: http://www.OMNIport.net/ Subject: Loss of Local Loop Hello, March 26, 2001 16:00 the company that carried the local loop (i.e. the one responsible for the signal and wires that carry our network to and from the internet) closed down its operation due to bankruptcy. This, in effect, cut off our high-speed connection to the internet. OMNIport Technical Support has contacted our upstream provider and has arranged for an emergency ISDN connection to supply our network. The connection was back in place at 19:00. What this means to you is that there may be brief periods where the conneciton is sluggish ... please be patient, this sluggishness (if any) would be due to network congestion from OMNIport users. Any congestion you may experience will be very brief if present at all. All services will be uneffected by this temporary upstream connection.
