Subject: [OMNIport] Link lost due to regional provider equipment changes

Hello,

On October 6, 2004 from 02:00am until 05:35am we experienced a loss
of our upstream link and also dialup access authentication.

This loss was due to major "scheduled maintenance" by our regional
upstream internet provider of which we were not informed until well
after the loss of connection occured.  The regional provider needed
to change out equipment and reorganize their main high-speed data
center located in Dallas.  Our connection to the rest of the internet
is part of this high-speed network and thus we lost our connection
and also the ability for our customers to get authenticated for
dialup access since the authentication also goes through this same
high-speed network.

We are sorry for any and all inconvenience and loss of access you may
have experienced during this outtage.  Rest assured that no data or
e-mail has been lost and as soon as the connection was restored, the
messages that were in the internet bound for the mail server will
eventually be received.
